Even the best-planned rentals sometimes fall through. How you handle cancellations — from either side — shapes your standing on the platform.

If you're a host and need to cancel

Life happens. If you must cancel, do it as early as possible — days, not hours, before the booking. Message the renter directly, explain briefly, and apologise. WeShare's support team can help find alternative options for the renter.

Repeated host cancellations affect your response rate and can result in your listing being demoted in search results. Use a clear, honest availability calendar to avoid overbooking.

If you're a renter and need to cancel

Check the listing's cancellation policy before you book — policies vary from flexible to strict. The closer to the booking date you cancel, the more of your payment you may forfeit.

If something genuinely unexpected happens, reach out to the host directly before cancelling through the platform. Many hosts will work with you if you communicate early and honestly.

When things go wrong

If either party feels the cancellation was handled unfairly, WeShare's dispute resolution team is available. Document everything — messages, photos, timestamps. The more evidence, the faster the resolution.
